How to: Open a digital barbershop
Hello World.
This is my first Photoshop technique tutorial. I’ve made a couple of posts (here and here) showcasing some photo-manipulations of celebrities with different hair-colours from their own (mine have all been red thus far). This is the technique I use to do those images. This is by no means the only way of achieving such an effect, and is probably not even the best way to do it, but this is how I do it.
This tutorial was written for Photoshop CS3 (currently the latest version), but can most likely be achieved using earlier versions as it only uses basic tools.
Make the little ant-man fly!
Hello World.

Manifold is a fun little game about gravity. Actually, that makes it sound like one of those boring “edutainment” games they made us play in primary school. No, Manifold is puzzle game in which you must move your little ant-man creature across various perils, using “anomalies” which make gravity go in different directions.
The controls and concept are explained more fully in the game, which you can play here.

Still better than a matchbox
Hello World.
A while back, I posted some Photoshopped images I had created of celebrities as they would look if they had red hair. Originally, I had done this as part of a forum thread over at ComicVine. Recently, I was notified that someone liked my pictures and re-posted one at his own site. This has inspired me to make some more (also, I’m a little bored).
Sometime in the near future, I’m going to write up and post a tutorial of how I do this (it’s really not terribly hard). Meanwhile (Right click>”View Image” or similar to see full size):
Another Eliza Dushku manipulation (because I like her):

The Invisible Woman herself, Jessica Alba:

And lastly, the super-babe from Smallville, Kristin Kreuk:

That’s all for now. I was trying to do a decent one of Heroes’ Hayden Panettiere (”just about the hottest woman on TV at the moment“, according to TomHB), but that particular shade of light blonde doesn’t red-ify well. Also, I will take requests, should such a service be deemed useful (for example, for seeing what you would look like before you go and get that expensive and non-washable colouring at the salon).
How regal, indeed
Hello World.
I’ve just done a small update to the site’s theme (to Mandigo 1.26) and to the back-end software (to Wordpress 2.3). This won’t mean much to you except for a few minor changes:
Swanky new background:
I didn’t plan or expect it, but the new version of the Mandigo theme apparently comes with a rather regal looking background pattern. It looks kind of what I’d expect the wallpaper looks like on the walls of the bathroom in Buckingham Palace (which is absurd, of course… Buckingham Palace has heaps of bathrooms).
Categories and Tags:
The post navigation has been switched around a bit - there are now both “Categories” and “Tags” attached to each post. This is a function of the new Wordpress that I didn’t really know what to do with, so I’ve fudged together a system that I think will work. Posts will always be placed into one or more of the major categories (Videos, Games, Articles, etc). They may or may not also have tag(s) attached to them. These tags may be things that further help to describe/catalogue the post, or they might be a one off thing. The “tag cloud” over in the sidebar shows all the tags, with the bigger labels housing more posts.
Hooray for onomatopoeia
Hello World.
Some comic book themed desktop wallpaper thingies, made by yours truly:

These use a font called Badaboom, which is a free download from Blambot.
Superman wrestling Chewbacca? I’d watch that!
Hello World.
This is a clip of a talk by Kevin Smith, wherein he tells the story of his doomed Superman movie. The clip is nearly 20 mins, but well worth the time.
I’m pretty sure this is from either the An Evening With Kevin Smith or An Evening With Kevin Smith 2: Evening Harder DVDs, but I’m not sure which.
This particular story has become so well known, that it was even used as a joke in the recent animated movie Superman: Doomsday (voiced by Kevin Smith himself, no less).
‘coz it’s red.
Hello World.
It’s ironic by ~OrribleCabbage on deviantART
I made another desktop wallpaper thingy. Not fancy, nor particularly creative, but definitely, positively red.
At night, rave near the guard’s compartment naked with a blue light
Hello World.

Sorry, I just thought it was funny. Gimme a break, it’s late.
