You can’t beat that with a stick! Oh, wait…
Hello World.
The kid in this video is four years old. Bear that in mind while watching.

Web Service Spotlight - Last.fm
Hello World.
Occasionally here on The Cabbage Patch, I feature a “Web 2.0” website and provide a sort of review in a feature I call “Web Service Spotlight”. These may include new services that are better than their competitors, sites that are unique and do things differently, or simply sites that stand out as being useful.
–
This edition of Web Service Spotlight takes a look at Last.fm.
I have mentioned Last.fm before on Da Patch, but today I shall be going into a more in-depth look at my favourite social/music website. Recently, Last.fm has released a major re-design of the website and the software that accompanies it, and it has become the ultimate music sharing and discovery site.
Frets on Fire
Hello World.
There is a game for PS2 called Guitar Hero, which is a sort of "guitar simulator". The player, wielding a faux-guitar, must press the right "fret" and "pick" as coloured lines march across the screen.
Frets on Fire is a free, computer-based rip-off of this popular game. It is essentially the same, only the computer keyboard is used in place of the guitar controller. It is a very fun and addictive game, despite only coming with three songs. The different difficulty levels each offer a different challenge, so the songs do not get boring.
An industrious fan has also converted the Brad Sucks song Bad Attraction for use in the game, if interested. You can download it from here.
Update: I just found Keyboards on Fire, a site with extra songs for the game.
Hi. How are you? Come in. I’ve poured you a glass of your favourite wine… obviously.
Hello World.
Any fans of Ricky Gervais’ show The Office (UK version, not the sub-par American spin-off) will have seen, heard, or at least heard of this song/video clip. If you haven’t, then sit back and enjoy the dulcet tones of David Brent’s If You Don’t Know Me By Now:
Song backwards my is this.
Hello World.
Reader Oskar has alerted me to the website of Sammy J, a musical comedian from Melbourne. Below is one of his videos. Others can be found on his website.

I’m too sexy for this website.
Hello World.
I have been a fan of machinima films for quite some time, especially notable series Red vs. Blue (which has been featured on The Patch before).
It would seem that the popular online game World of Warcraft is flavour of the month in the world of machinima (I featured another WoW film last week), as today I have another short clip made with the game. This one is set to the classic Right Said Fred song, "I'm Too Sexy".
I think I’ve just ruined my child-hood memories.
Hello World.
Some sick and twisted person has mashed Toy Story 2 and Requiem for a Dream together, with astonishing results.

The original large version can be found here.
On a related note, the music used in the video is a remix of Dirtbag by Brad Sucks, my favourite one-man band. You can download his album for free from his website.
Why, Australia? Why?
Hello World.
The Triple J Hottest 100 has just been announced, and I hate to say it Australia, but I’m disappointed in you.
Of all the local and international acts that released songs last year, it was Bernard Fanning that you liked the most? Sure, Powderfinger (his real band) are great, but on his own Bernard Fanning is no more than a slightly-better-in-tune Ben Lee!
And speaking of Ben Lee, he was your second choice!? My, my. What has this country come to?
I must admit, however, that the remainder of the list was much better. I was especially pleased at the six (yes, six) Wolfmother songs that made it through.
For those of you who don’t know, the Triple J Hottest 100 is the world’s biggest listener-voted music poll. Around 600,000 people from around the world voted for their favourite songs from the past year, and the top 100 were compiled and announced live today on Triple J.
The Top Ten were:
10. Do You Want To - Franz Ferdinand
9. Joker & The Thief - Wolfmother
8. O Yeah - End Of Fashion
7. My Doorbell - White Stripes
6. Mind’s Eye - Wolfmother
5. Dare - Gorillaz
4. Best Of You - Foo Fighters
3. Feel Good Inc. - Gorillaz
2. Catch My Disease - Ben Lee
1. Wish You Well - Bernard Fanning
The rest of the list, along with photos and various other things can be found here.
